Good morning and happy Friday! How was your week? What do you have going on this weekend? My week was pretty standard and I’m starting to feel a little bit of stress with trying to finalize wedding things but other than that, all is well. I have a pretty open weekend, no work for me this Saturday and only dinner plans on Saturday night but that is the extent of the plans. I’m looking forward to a slower weekend since August is flying!
I started thinking about taking a trip since I have two clients that are traveling to Europe this month and both are females my age and going on their own. One is going to Stockholm and the other is going to Portugal. Both are on hiatus right now between jobs and are taking trips before they pick up with their new jobs in September. Obviously they are in a very different situation than I’m in, but a European trip sounds so lovely. I think October/November is the best time to go anyway. I’ve been daydreaming about Venice, Rome, Amsterdam, and Santorini. Tom and I don’t have a honeymoon planned since we just don’t have the funds right now but hopefully next year. Are you traveling anywhere soon?
As the week winds down, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things with you before you jump into your weekend! Enjoy!
Books…I’m currently reading “The life she was given” and really enjoying it so far. I have another book waiting for me at the library when I finish this one up which is “The girl with all the gifts” which was recommended to me by a client. I’ve been keeping track of all the books I’ve been reading this year since “reading more” was something that I wanted to put an emphasis on in 2017 and so far, I’ve been successful! What are you reading lately?
Eats…I’ve mentioned this recipe many times before but it hasn’t failed yet. I love having these brownies waiting for me at the end of the day with a glass of almond milk. It hits the spot every time. Also, I came across this recipe for carrot cake and I was inspired to make it. I pinned it and told Tom I’d make this for a special occasion and then he asked me “Why?” and I didn’t really have a good answer. So this pineapple carrot cake might be happening some time soon just because.
Jams…I’ve been listening to Spotify’s “Throwback Workout” playlist while I train and it’s been a client favorite this week. Some of the songs bring you straight back to high school grad parties and middle school rec nights. Good times.
Podcasts…”Homecoming” is back in action for season two. If you haven’t given this a listen yet on your commute, it’s worth your time. It’s engaging and makes that drive go by so fast. I’ve only listened to two episodes in the newest season and I’m looking forward to listening to more this weekend!
Self care…I’m needing some quiet time to recharge this weekend and I’m thinking about heading to the terrace early on Saturday or Lake Wingra to read or write. What about you? How are you going to recharge this weekend?
Also…came across this blended coffee recipe and I can’t wait to try it when the weather dips below 70 degrees. Pinch of Yum recipes are right on the money every time so I’m sure this won’t disappoint!
That’s it for me today but let me know your favorites from the week! Have a happy weekend!
