It’s Friday! We made it through the week and now it’s time for the weekend! What are you up to? On Saturday, I hope to go to 9 am CrossFit with my sister, then jet over to cheer on Tom in the rowing competition he’s in, and then meet some friends for lunch afterwards. Sunday might be reserved for cleaning, laundry, some work, and a nap. Nothing too exciting over here. What about for you? Before we move into Friday, I wanted to share a few small, but noteworthy things from my week.
Beartown by Fredrik Backman–A great book to read to kick off the year. I highly recommend this one. I’ve already placed a hold on the sequel, Us Against You, at the library. I also love following Anne’s blog and she recently posted a list of “16 books to cozy up with this winter” in case you are looking for your next book to read.
A free scone at Barriques–The last couple of Fridays have started off with yoga at 6:30 am and then grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s. But we have some time to kill since TJ’s doesn’t open until 8 am, so we just walk across the street to the coffee shop and get a latte and scone to share. I read blogs while Tom does whatever he does. He got a coupon last week for a free scone and I just got one this week. Cheers to free bakery items. It really is the little things in life that make the days a little brighter.
I read this post yesterday and thought it was beautifully written. I also realized how guilty I am of “elevating the gift above the heart of the Giver.” It offered a completely different perspective for me and I wanted to share it with you.
I bought the book “Tribe of Mentors” by Tim Ferriss for Tom for Christmas and am becoming a huge fan of Ferriss’s. Have you seen his most recent TED talk? I was scrolling through TED talks one evening and came upon this one. It’s definitely work the 13 minutes.
That’s all from me today. I hope you have a wonderful Friday!
