It’s been about a month since my last post and I feel like it’s time to catch up! If you received a post yesterday with literally no content except for a picture, I apologize! I was in the midst of trying to use the wordpress app on my phone which is always a nightmare and the post got published on accident. I’m happy to finally sit down and take a look back on the month.
March has been a whirlwind! I got together with friends in Milwaukee at the beginning of the month for a much-needed reunion. We laughed, ate lunch, caught up with each other’s lives, and I left feeling so grateful. We also celebrated my dad’s 64th birthday by learning how to curl. My parents used to curl back in the day and I thought it would be a good activity for the family to do together. I bruised both of my knees pretty good by trying to “perfect” the delivery form but I laughed a ton and I think my dad had some fun too.
Tom has been gone the past two weekends with army duty and then a guy’s trip down to Nashville. While he was away, I worked, went on a couple runs outside in the spring weather, went through the closet and took a bag to Goodwill, finished a couple books, and spent time with my sister at our favorite bakery, Bloom. I have been participating in a group at church that meets Sunday evenings and although I was a bit reluctant at first, I have started to notice a bit of a change in myself over these past six weeks. For one, I’ve attended church every Sunday the last five weeks which is pretty big for me. Usually I’m only a 1-2 times/week church-goer so consistency has improved greatly. I’ve also been following along with reading the book of Luke this month during Lent. In addition, because I’ve been paying attention as well as participating in discussions, naturally there have been a ton of questions that have been arising in regards to my faith and what I believe. I have never read the Bible before. I’ve never taken a religion studies class. So I have so much to learn! And my feelings on church are always evolving. So it’s been a month of questions and growth which I think is only good.
Tom and I have also decided to no longer talk about work when we get home at night. We realized that we would come home and vent to each other about our days but it was neither positive or productive and it would oftentimes create more stress. We decided enough is enough and for the past couple of weeks our evenings have been work-talk free. It’s been glorious and it’s also opened up a space for us to talk about other life things.
I also started journaling in the evenings and following along with these prompts which I love.
I listened to this podcast yesterday with Oprah and enjoyed every minute of it. She is my absolute favorite and I wish she could be my daily spiritual adviser.
I volunteered to host an Easter lunch since my parents are helping my twin sister move into a new apartment on Sunday! She’ll now be living only a few blocks away which is amazing but since my parents usually host Easter dinner at their house which is 45 minutes away, I thought it would only make sense if I hosted instead. It shouldn’t be too big of an issue that we don’t own a kitchen table or have anywhere to really seat anyone. I also have no idea what to cook. Are you hosting for Easter? If so, what are you cooking?
So that is pretty much all for me! I would love to hear what you’ve been up to this month!
I am wishing you a very happy Easter weekend!
